Design

Mazda's design concept 'KODO – Soul of Motion', which was seen for the first time on CX-5, is reflected in its purest form throughout the Mazda6. Dynamism and emotional appeal are intricately blended to evoke poise and sporty flair. While a low, wide stance expresses strength and stability.

Air-conditioning

Enjoy the perfect temperature thanks to dual-zone climate control air-conditioning with rear vents, available standard on all Mazda6 grades.

Audio system

Touring, GT and Atenza models feature the audio-sensory delights of a Bose® sound system, featuring 11 speakers and the stirring sound of 231 watts. While Sport models feature a single-disc CD player and 6 speakers.

Bluetooth connectivity®

With Bluetooth® as standard, you've got the ease of hands-free phone calls along with MP3 player connectivity.

Cruise control

Mazda6's standard cruise control system is simple to operate and ensures a constant speed is maintained on those longer journeys. Atenza models are fitted with radar cruise control, which uses a radar to watch the car ahead and automatically adjusts your speed to maintain a safe following distance.

Gear shift paddles

Putting you in total control, all models feature shift paddles and provide the thrill of manual gear changes without needing to take your hands off the wheel.

Push-button engine start

All Mazda6 models are equipped with the push-button engine start system, which lets you fire the engine up with the push of a button.

Seating

Available in either cloth (Sport) or leather (Touring, GT and Atenza models) seat trim, Mazda6 offers superb comfort and hold during energetic driving. Leather seats also come standard with power adjustment for both driver and front seat passenger and a 2-position memory function for the driver.

Storage

A large array of storage spaces ensures you're never without a place to put the little things. All models are equipped with overhead sunglass storage box, centre console, cupholders and door bottle holders.

Tonneau cover

In the Mazda6 wagon, the spacious load area is accessed by the easy opening tailgate with integrated 'Karakuri' protective tonneau cover. It moves in unison with the tailgate for seamless convenience.

USB and AUX

A 3.5mm auxiliary jack and iPod® compatible USB input located in the rear centre console ensure you're always connected to your favourite tracks. A handy 12 volt power outlet is also close at hand.

Aerodynamics

i-ELOOP

i-ELOOP is Mazda's unique brake energy regeneration system which begins charging a capacitor the moment you take your foot off the accelerator. Electricity stored in the capacitor can then be used to power electric components throughout the car, resulting in improvements in fuel economy.

i-stop

i-stop is a feature that helps to improve fuel economy by turning off the engine when the vehicle is idling and restarting it when the driver accelerates. It is governed by a range of conditions, ensuring it will automatically engage only when it is safe to do so.

SKYACTIV-Body

The newly designed body is based on the superior frame structure seen on the CX-5 and takes performance to unmatched levels. Increasing the rigidity and lightness helps to make the driving experience more enjoyable and the car's safety and environmental performance even better.

Meeting this challenge required a ground-breaking approach – and it's called SKYACTIV Technology. Put simply, we've re-engineered every aspect of the Mazda6 to unleash greater efficiency and more driving enjoyment

From the ground up, the chassis of Mazda6 has been completely redesigned to maximise the pleasure of controlling the car and to maximise ride comfort. Achieving these gives Mazda6 the sense of 'oneness' between car and driver, which is synonymous with the Zoom-Zoom.

SKYACTIV-D

The 2.2L SKYACTIV-D diesel engine has the world's lowest diesel-engine compression ratio of 14.0:1 for high fuel economy and low emissions but gives nimble, linear acceleration and great performance that defies conventional expectations of a diesel engine.

SKYACTIV-Drive

The SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission offers a direct feel like that of a manual transmission together with smooth shifting and superior fuel economy. Cooperative control of the transmission and engine yields a light, linear, and refined shift feeling.

SKYACTIV-G

The 2.5L SKYACTIV-G petrol engine releases more performance from less fuel by a fundamental rethink of the internal combustion engine. It offers responsive power delivery and acceleration throughout the rev range and has a balance shaft for quietness.

Steering and handling

Creating a sense of 'oneness' with the car, the steering system employed in the Mazda6 contributes to responsive, precise steering. This allows the Mazda6 to respond in a linear, stable manner to steering inputs while cornering or when driving in a straight line.

Suspension

The strut-type front suspension and the multi-link rear suspension hold the Mazda6 snugly against the bitumen to ensure superior rigidity, ride comfort and road noise reduction at all vehicle speeds.

Adaptive Front-lighting System

Available on GT and Atenza models, the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) helps improve visibility when driving at night, by swivelling the headlamps by as much as 15 degrees in the direction you're steering.

Airbags

Six SRS airbags including front, side (front) and curtain (front and rear) are standard on the Mazda6 range, providing peace of mind so you can focus on enjoying the drive.

Blind Sport Monitoring - BSM

By scanning the driver's blind spots, this innovation warns of any unseen vehicles to help avoid making hazardous lane changes. A LED icon on the relevant mirror is accompanied by a warning alarm. Available on Atenza only.

Braking system

Standard on all Mazda6 models, key braking technologies such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) ensure safe control of your vehicle under all conditions.

Dynamic Stability Control - DSC

The entire Mazda6 range is fitted with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS). By detecting vehicle traction, the systems alter power output and brake individual wheels in accordance with where the driver wants the car to go.

Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)

In the event of emergency braking from high speeds, the Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) system alerts the following driver to help prevent a rear impact during deceleration, by rapidly flashing the hazard-warning lamps.

High Beam Control - HBC

Enjoy the enhanced safety of high beam illumination without having to manually switch to low-beam. A camera detects lit areas, oncoming cars' headlights, or the taillights of cars in front, and automatically switches to low-beam then back when it's safe. Available on Atenza only.

Hill Launch Assist - HLA

Hill Launch Assist (HLA) helps prevent the Mazda6 from rolling backwards while the driver's foot moves from the brake pedal to the accelerator when taking off on a hill.

Lane Departure Warning - LDW

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) uses a camera to monitor road lane markings and warns the driver of unintentional lane departures, thus minimising the risk of collision due to driver error or fatigue. Available on Atenza only.

Parking sensors

Situated on both front and rear bumpers of the Touring, GT and Atenza models are parking sensors that will let you know how close you are to whatever is in front of, or behind you.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert - RCTA

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) works when reversing the vehicle. If a vehicle is detected approaching from either side, the driver is alerted by a flashing warning light on the specific side and a warning beep will also sound.

Reverse camera

All Mazda6 models feature a reverse camera giving you a clear view of what's behind you via a colour display - making reversing and parking all that much simpler and safer.

SKYACTIV-Body

The SKYACTIV-Body combines lightness with high rigidity, providing safety by efficiently absorbing impact forces from all directions and minimising deformation of the cabin.

Smart Brake Support

Smart Brake Support (SBS) helps reduce the severity of a collision by applying the brakes when a risk of frontal collision is detected while driving at speeds of 15km/h or more. Coupled to SBS is Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW), which detects vehicles in front and alerts the driver with a visual and audible waring, to an approaching risk of collision. Available on Atenza only.

Whiplash minimising front seats

To help minimise injuries suffered by front-seat occupants during a rear-end collision, the neck injury mitigation of the front seats is adopted, limiting relative movement of the head, chest and hips.
