Your Mazda knows that lubricants and fluids are its lifeblood. Using the wrong ones can dramatically affect its lifespan and performance. Your Service Advisor at Madill Mazda can advise you on the products best suited to your model. It's all part of the experience you get at our Service Centres.
Your car fluids and cleaners will probably require the most attention when it comes to maintaining your Mazda. By maintaining your car's fluids, you can make cleaning easier and reduce the chance of damage to parts.
Some of the fluids and cleaners your Mazda needs are:
Car filters help keep the parts of your car functioning by removing all the dirt and impurities that accumulate over time. So whether its filtering fluids or filtering the air you breathe, it is important to check all your car filters regularly to see if they need cleaning or replacing to ensure your Mazda is always protected & operating efficiently.
Engine oil filters trap minute particles of carbon and metal as they circulate in the engine lubricating system. If the filter is not replaced in accordance with the manufacturers schedule, the effectiveness of the filter is decreased which can reduce oil flow within the engine and also allow the solid particles to circulate and cause accelerated wear.
Fuel filters trap rust, water and other foreign material that may originate in the fuel tank or from contaminated fuel.
Water and other particulates circulating in the fuel can at best, result in poor engine performance, but can also cause costly damage to fuel injection systems.
Again, failure to replace these filters as scheduled can result in costly repairs.
Engine air filters remove highly abrasive dust particles from the air that is drawn into the engine to mix with the fuel in order to make the correct air fuel mixture that is required for proper engine performance.
A blocked air filter will result in a high fuel consumption and poor performance.
A damaged or blocked air filter will allow the abrasive particles to be drawn into the engine.
They will quickly cause engine wear which can't be reversed.
If a vehicle is operated in sandy or dusty conditions, the air filter will need cleaning or replacement more often than specified in the maintenance schedule.
The function of the cabin air filter is to remove pollen and grass from the air being drawn into the vehicle through the vehicle air-conditioning and cabin ventilation systems.
A blocked filter will reduce the effectiveness of these systems by reducing airflow.
The engine and drive train is the powerhouse of your Mazda. These parts generate power and deliver it to you on the road. There are numerous parts that make up the drive train of your car including the battery, the clutch, the drive belt, the muffler and spark plug.
Your car's battery is what supplies energy to the starter motor, ignition system and lights. The spark plug ignites the fuel and air mixture, which propels the engine's cylinders to drive the car. The engine stays turning with the assistance of a drive belt that carries all the other parts that are auxiliary to your engine's functioning. The role of the clutch is to effortlessly transfer the power from the engine to propel the vehicle. Finally the muffler is the component in your exhaust system that is responsible for correctly 'breathing out' emissions, so that your engine delivers maximum performance and efficiency.
The performance of your car brakes, suspension, and steering have tremendous effect on how your car handles on the road. Being able to stop and turn with precision are crucial to your safety while driving.
At the centre of a car's stopping power are the actual brake pads, which grip the brake disc rotor to slow down your car. The split boot kit allows you to repair the boots, which are crucial to your car's CV joints on the front axles of your car. Shock absorbers work with the car's suspension to absorb the effects of bumps and holes in the road.
The original fitment tyres on your Mazda were selected to deliver the high standard of ride, performance and handling that you expect from a Mazda.
To make sure you get the most out of your tyres, and your Mazda, it is important for tyres are maintained properly.
Under-inflation even by small amounts, 7-14kPa (1-2lb), can considerably increase fuel consumption. Over time it also causes increased noise, uneven tread wear which can't be reversed. Under-inflation also reduces the tyre's load carrying capacity and causes heat build up in the tyre casing. In extreme cases this can result in tyre failure and loss of vehicle control.
On Mazda vehicles, this label is usually fitted at the rear edge of the driver's door or in the driver's door opening on the centre pillar. It contains important information on the rim size, tyre size, cold tyre pressures and the minimum legal tyre load and speed ratings for the wheels and tyres fitted as original equipment. The cold tyre pressures shown on the tyre placard should be considered as the minimum. Tyre pressures should not be allowed to fall below this figure.
Tyre Pressures should ideally be checked every two weeks and must ALWAYS be checked when the tyres are COLD.
Warm tyre pressures can be 20-30kPa (3-4 lb) above the recommended cold pressure. NEVER LET AIR OUT OF A WARM TYRE TO SET IT AT THE PLACARDED FIGURE. IT WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS UNDER-INFLATION.
Petrol station tyre gauges are often inaccurate, so try to use your own, good quality gauge.
Never rely on appearance; modern belt construction prevents tyre distortion being easily seen, even when a tyre is under-inflated.
Your tyres' ability to perform safely in wet conditions can be seriously compromised as the tread wears.
In Australia the legal minimum tread depth of any roadworthy tyre is 1.6mm.
This minimum depth is shown on the tyre by a series Tread Wear Indicators located at a minimum of 4 points around the tyre in the major tread grooves. Their location in the tread face is indicated by a triangle on the upper tyre sidewall at the edge of the tread.
If any of these indicators become level with the surrounding tread face at any one point on the tyre - regardless of conditions elsewhere on the tread, that tyre is legally un-roadworthy.
Madill Mazda can advise you on correct tyre maintenance, including a tyre rotation schedule.
Should you need to replace worn tyre/s, we can assist you in choosing from a large range of top brand, quality tyres suited to your needs.
Windscreen wipers are very important for safe driving, especially at night. They are designed to effectively remove moisture and dirt from the front and rear windscreen, providing a clear view for the driver.
However, the soft rubber inserts are vulnerable to wear and tear from the elements and can be literally worn out with use. Contaminants and adverse conditions on the road can accelerate rubber deterioration, often resulting in chattering and streaking across the windscreen. Lack of use, due to storage or driving in dry climates can leave the rubber on the windscreen wipers cracked and brittle. The same applies to headlamp wipers too, and all rubber inserts should be checked regularly and changed when necessary.
Signs you may need to replace your windscreen wipers:
To ensure maximum windscreen cleanliness, use Windscreen Washer Additive instead of water. Giving the rubber blade a regular wipe with tissue will also help to clean off the build-up of grease and grime. This will help to maintain a clear view through the windscreen and keep your wipers working longer.

The Advanced Protection Electronic Corrosion Inhibitor (ECI) module is a scientifically proven electronic anti-corrosion system developed for today's motor vehicles.
The ECI system uses a unique, Direct Pulsed Current System to generate a high frequency negative pulse to the vehicles body panels, replacing lost electrons. The microprocessor controlled frequency is scientifically proven to reduce natural metal corrosion.
When metal is exposed to moisture and oxygen, an electrochemical reaction occurs and electrons are lost from the metal surface. This reaction produces rust and the metal is eaten away.
